Most people don’t understand grief. Come learn what grief is and how it affects all of us whether you're grieving or know someone who is but don't know how to help them. You won’t be asked to say anything or do anything in our classes - just come and learn. Many of these classes are based on the work of Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt'sUnderstanding Your Grief Touchstones for Hope and Healing.
CLASSES meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and are free of charge.
January and June - MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT GRIEF Whether you have lost someone dear, or want to help a friend or family member through their grief, you may have more questions than answers. In this class, we will define grief by dispelling some common misconceptions.
February and July - DEVELOP YOUR UNIQUE CARE PLAN 98.6 and 120/80 are normal for body temperature and blood pressure. If you are grieving you may be wondering what is normal grief. This session will help you evaluate your progress and bring reassurance that you are not going crazy.
March and August - DEALING WITH GRIEF EMOTIONS SHOCK * CONFUSION * FEAR * GUILT The grief emotions that you are experiencing may be varied and yet they are common. Come learn some self-care tips for dealing with the emotions that are related to your loss.
April and September- YOU ARE NOT GOING CRAZY Grief is often foreign and disorienting. Your behaviors may seem out of whack, surreal and confusing. We will give you information that will affirm your sanity.
May and October- COMMITTING TO THE ROAD AHEAD The journey through grief is life-changing. As you experience how grief transforms you, be open to the new direction your life may now take. Learn to make choices that are congruent with what you have learned along your journey.
November - PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAYS Holidays are often difficult for anyone who has experienced the death of someone loved. Come and learn strategies that will help you cope with the holidays and empower yourself to heal.
